The Nevada Archives Month video, Suffrage Centennial: A Piece of the Puzzle, is the Nevada State Archives’ first virtual exhibit. This video was created as a means of celebrating Archives Month 2020 with a greater audience while the Nevada State Archives Research Room remains closed to general public access. The documents shown are scans of records held in the Nevada State Archives. The Nevada-related information has been augmented with photos from the Library of Congress, newspaper clips from the Library of Congress’ “Chronicling America” website (https://chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/), and information gleaned from a Nevada Women’s History Project/Nevada Railroad Museum video on the Nevada “Suffrage Special” train: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9bYyM-grPUc. More detail of the story of Tennessee’s part of the ratification process can be found in this Nashville Public Television video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sxZAE6fopjU. Also, here’s the link to the Library of Congress page for the Daughters of Freedom background music used in our video: https://www.loc.gov/item/sm1871.7102334/.
2020 is also an election year. More information on the election process in Nevada can be found on the Nevada Secretary of State’s website: https://www.nvsos.gov/sos/elections/election-information.
