Volunteer Job Description - Borrowing and Lending assistant


General Description: Volunteers assist with providing NV CoOperative (NV CoOp) and
OCLC borrowing and loaning services

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Locate and retrieve books and other materials from library stacks
  • Locate and copy/scan requested articles within journals, books, and microform
  • Check out NSLAPR materials that fill NV CoOp loan requests
  • Prepare outgoing loaned and borrowed material for mailing
  • Open, sort and check-in incoming mail
  • Give staff OCLC ILL materials; place NV CoOp holds on hold shelf
  • Assist staff in other tasks as assigned
Required Qualifications:
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Borrowing and Lending volunteers need to have attention to detail and be able to perform tasks quickly and accurately
  • Volunteers must be aware of deadlines and dedicated to quick turnaround time on requests
  • Volunteers must be self-starters and able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Volunteers must be able to maneuver heavy carts and lift light to medium weights
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Availability to work 2 - 3 hours at a time, 2+ days a week
