Description

The Department of Motor Vehicles licenses Nevada's 2.3 million drivers and ID card holders and registers more than 2.7 million vehicles while maintaining the integrity and privacy of the DMV records. The DMV helps ensure highway safety through driver education and testing, administers financial responsibility laws, maintains licensing and regulation of the  motor vehicle industry, including dealers, salespeople, rental car companies, manufacturers, emissions inspection stations, private driving schools, and instructors. It investigates consumer complaints, identity theft and vehicle fraud, including criminal arrests and prosecution. The DMV also collects all of Nevada's fuel taxes (including aviation fuel) and the collection of Government Services Taxes to help fund lcoal governments and schools.
