The Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, a Nevada State Agency, works to enhance the quality of life for all who live or visit in our great state. Through the work of Travel Nevada, Division of Museums and History, and Nevada Arts Council, their efforts present, celebrate, and protect the cultural landscape of Nevada for everyone to enjoy now and into the future. Nevada's lore is in the most exciting, intriguing, creative and historic experiences located within our mountains, deserts, urban scenes, back roads, and cultural establishments. We invite you to dive in and find your own Nevada story.
The Nevada Arts Council was created as a state agency in 1967. With offices in Las Vegas and Reno, Nevada Arts Council programs serve as a catalyst to stimulate artistic, creative, cultural, and economic activity across the state, enliven its breadth of communities, ensure lifelong learning in the arts for all Nevadans, and to encourage public and private support for the arts. The Nevada Arts Council is divided into six programs as accessible portals for our constituents and members of the public alike, Art Services, Arts Learning, Community Arts Development, Folklife, Grants, and Public Initiatives. Through these program areas, the agency provides grant funding, offers professional assistance to the state's creative industry (artists, educators, cultural organizations, and schools), and coordinates statewide outreach programming, initiatives and activities for Nevada residents and visitors. Nevada Arts Council grants, programs, and services are guided by a statewide planning process and a strategic plan.
The Commission on Tourism operates within the Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs to help achieve the Govern0r's strategic priority of a vibrant and sustainable economy. In addition to managing state tourism efforts, the Division provides communities and businesses with development resources, training, and grant assistance that help bolster local economic bases and diversify regional economies.
