1869 the Elko Daily Independent was started by R. D Kelley and Company with George G. Berry, Kelly left within the year,
1870 H. C. Street and Charles L. Perkins joined the partnership, only to leave later that Fall, moving to Carson City and purchasing the Appeal,
1871 Berry and Company, J. C. Davis, and William Taylor,
1872 William B. Taylor and George G. Berry until Taylor also left that Fall for Pioche,
1873 S. S. Sears and C. C. S. Wright,
1875 becomes the Elko Weekly Independent/Weekly Elko Independent,
1876 S. S. Sears,
1886 C. W. Grover,
1887 the name starts to be printed as the Weekly Independent, and started to run concurrently with the Elko Daily Independent,
1891 W. W. Booker,
1914 Charles H. Keith and Howard N. Riddle, dropped the Weekly Independent before Riddle sold out to George B. Russell, Keith left soon after,
1915 Russell was forced to reduce the Daily to a tri-weekly and the title changed back to the Elko Independent,
1920 Harold P. Hale,
1937 Warren L. Monroe and R. C. Stitser of the Humboldt Star,
