Continuing Education

Grant funding is available for virtual or in-person professional learning opportunities. 

There are two ways to apply:

  • As a Library: For this option, the employing Library Organization will be awarded an LSTA grant. The eligible library will pay all expenses and be reimbursed for actual expenditures. 
  • As an Individual: For this option, individuals employed by an eligible Nevada library apply. The individual will pay all expenses and be reimbursed for actual expenditures.

Library Application

For this option, the employing Library Organization will be awarded an LSTA grant, will pay all expenses, and be reimbursed for actual expenditures.

Step 1: Read the LSTA Continuing Education (CE) Grant for Libraries Template and Instructions

Step 2: Submit the LSTA Continuing Education (CE) Grant for Libraries application online, prior to the appropriate deadline, through the COMMUNITY GRANTS PORTAL.

Step 3: Prior to finalization of the award, successful applicants must: 

  • Respond to funding recommendations.
  • Submit a complete set of Required Signature Documents (NSLAPR requires one set per library per federal year).

Award notifications and funding recommendations will be sent to applicant libraries as soon as possible.

Step 4: After the event, documentation must be submitted in order to be reimbursed for actual expenditures. 

Individual Application

For this option, individuals apply. The individual will pay all expenses and be reimbursed by NSLAPR for actual expenditures. Applications will NOT be submitted through the grant portal, but through the application form.

Step 1: Verify that you are employed by an eligible Nevada Library.

  •  Complete the LSTA Eligibility Form

Step 2: Verify employer permission to participate in the continuing education activity.

  • Complete the Applicant Eligibility Certification Form

Step 3: Register as Vendor with the State of Nevada in order to receive reimbursement payments. 

Step 4: Complete an Individual Stipend Application prior to the appropriate deadline.​​​​​​​

Award notifications and funding recommendations will be sent to applicants as soon as possible.

Step 5: After the event, documentation must be submitted in order to be reimbursed for actual expenditures. 


Application Deadlines

  • Virtual Learning: 2 weeks before event
  • In-person: 2 weeks before event
  • In-person + Airfare: 2 months before event 

Who May Apply

  • Individuals employed by LSTA eligible Nevada libraries.
  • Attendance at the continuing education event must be approved by the applicant’s employer and occur during work time.

Allowable Expenses

Virtual Events:

  • Registration fees
  • Training materials (specific to event)

In-Person Events:

  • Event registration fees
  • Training materials (specific to event)
  • Transportation/mileage
  • Meals (not included in registration fees)
  • Lodging
  • Parking

Policies:

  • Location must be more than 50 miles from work site.
  • Transportation should be by the least expensive method available when such factors as total travel time and costs of transportation are considered.
  • Driving (in-lieu of flying) mileage will not be reimbursed for an amount greater than published airfare.

  • Funding Level: Up to $2,000 Per Person, Per Event
  • Funding Period: For Activities Occurring July 1 - June 30.
  • Funding Priority: Continuing Education/Professional Development
