Introduction

The National Historical Publications and Records Commission's (NHPRC) State Board Programming Grant program is a significant source of financial support for SHRAB operations and its sponsored projects. Cultural heritage entities across Nevada are eligible to receive NHPRC funding because Nevada has an active State Historical Records Advisory Board. The NHPRC grant program considers applications from state government agencies only in states where there is an active Historical Records Advisory Board (36 CFR 1206.54). 

Activities

2024 Board activities supported by the NHPRC included

• Developed and published the Directory of Historical Records Organizations 
• Developed and published Archival Education Resources online
• Conducted outreach during Archives Month, including
  • Exhibit in collaboration with the Nevada Division of Forestry
  • Archives Month 2024 - Poster (English)
  • Archives Month 2024 - Poster (Spanish)
• Delivered Conservation Fundamentals for Archives workshop October 11 in Carson City
• Delivered Archives 101 for Museum Professionals October 15 in Tonopah
• Delivered Conservation Fundamentals for Archives workshop October 18 in Las Vegas
• Four Board meetings and multiple meetings of subcommittees to plan and accomplish the above

2025-2026 Board activities will be guided by

• SHRAB Manual ~ National Historical Publications & Records Commission (Federal guidance)
• Nevada's SHRAB Bylaws
• Objectives in the Nevada SHRAB State Programming Grant Application 2024 (awarded in 2025)

Plans & Reports

To date, Nevada's SHRAB has undertaken projects for state-wide surveys, public awareness, education and training, and re-grants supported by NHPRC and the Institute for Museum and Library Services (IMLS) funds.
